Hillary Clinton continued her farcical visit to Pakistan today by blaming Obama’s failure to make any progress with respect to Israeli-Palestinian relations on George W. Bush. Clinton told a group of Pakistani journalists:
I think that, look, we all know that the Israeli-Palestinian issue is one that is a very serious and difficult problem that we are working hard also to try to resolve. We inherited a lot of problems. If you remember, when my husband left office, we were very close to an agreement because he worked on it all the time. The next administration did not make it a priority and did not really do much until toward the end. And unfortunately, we are trying to make up for some lost time, in my opinion.
Clinton’s statement goes beyond the usual, ungracious Obama administration mantra that everything is Bush’s fault. Here, Clinton has affirmatively misstated history. Thus, her comments are much closer to the administration’s patently false claim that the Bush White House did no planning regarding Afghanistan.
It is true that Israel and the Palestinians appeared to be close to an agreement during the tail end of the Clintion administration. But the appearance of closeness does not even count in horseshoes. When Clinton left office, the parties were not only nowhere near an agreement, the Palestinians were conducting a robust terror campaign inside the state of Israel. This was the fruit of Clinton’s years, which culminated with Arafat, Clinton’s peace partner, unleashing the terror on the theory, or perhaps the pretext, that Clinton had not extracted more concessions from Israel than he had.

We are inching closer to the moment of truth for Democrats on PelosiCare. The Speaker is intent on pushing a vote, the quicker the better. But is that wise for those who want the Democrats’ jumbo health-care bill passed? Consider two events that may give her caucus some pause.
First, Tuesday voters in Virginia and New Jersey and in the NY-23 district are going to cast their votes in races that nine or ten months ago would have been easy wins for the Democrats. Not now.
***
The Democrats’ health-care “reform” has become the most obvious example and the juiciest target for the anti-big government theme that Virginia Republicans are using to great advantage. Bob McDonnell’s best applause line went directly at this issue: “The road to recovery is not through more big government from Washington D.C.”
So does Pelosi really want her members voting so close after Tuesday’s election? Hmmm.
Second, there is a Katrina-like failure of competency in the administration’s bollixed handling of the swine-flu vaccine. The flu vaccine not readily available – with more angry moms and more sick kids every day – and now the administration has pulled a move likely to enrage Americans even further. Stephen Hayes remarks on the decision to give the vaccine to Guantanamo detainees, who don’t seem to meet the criteria for “at risk” patients.
***
It is this sort of mindless bureaucracy and endemic incompetence that sends shivers up the spines of average Americans when they contemplate giving the federal government control over health-care. This is the crew that poured a trillion dollars down the drain and now concocts phony job “creation’ statistic to justify its stimulus plan. This is the administration that spent billions on cash for clunkers, crashed the computers and then saw car sales plunge the next month. Their track record does not engender confidence.
Anyone advocating giving the Feds immense power over health-care decisions for 300 million Americans therefore is going to have to clear a steep hurdle and answer a critical question: if they can’t get us the swine-flu vaccine, why should we let them do anything else?
GO AHEAD AND CALL FOR A VOTE NANCY … MAKE OUR DAY!

by William A. Jacobson | Legal Insurrection
There is a political earthquake breaking in the NY-23 race. Republican insider Dede Scazzafava has quit the race, as reported first by Robert Stacey McCain, who is on the scene in upstate NY. HotAir is collecting the sources and information.
This will pit Conservative Doug Hoffman against Democrat Bill Owens.
Now it is a straight-up referendum on Obama, and the future of the country. A liberal against a conservative, with party labels meaningless.

Many years ago, at a certain academic institution, there was an experimental program that the faculty had to vote on as to whether or not it should be made permanent.
I rose at the faculty meeting to say that I knew practically nothing about whether the program was good or bad, and that the information that had been supplied to us was too vague for us to have any basis for voting, one way or the other. My suggestion was that we get more concrete information before having a vote.
The director of that program rose immediately and responded indignantly and sarcastically to what I had just said– and the faculty gave him a standing ovation.
***
Years later, and hundreds of miles away, I learned that my worst misgivings about that program did not begin to approach the reality, which included organized criminal activity.
The memory of that long-ago episode has come back more than once while observing both the actions of the Obama administration and the fierce reactions of its supporters to any questioning or criticism.
The famous line from one of Shakespeare’s plays, “Me thinks the lady doth protest too much!” is the perfect application for this administration. This is one of the ultimate tools of deflection when someone is unable to support their position with the facts. Thomas sums up everything pretty well with the following statement …
When a President of the United States has begun the process of dismantling America from within, and exposing us to dangerous enemies outside, the time is long past for being concerned about his public image.
KEEP UP THE FIGHT THOMAS!

By Ellen Nakashima and Carol D. Leonnig | msnbc
House leaders on Friday called for an “immediate and comprehensive assessment” of congressional cybersecurity policies, a day after an embarrassing data breach that led to the disclosure of details of confidential ethics investigations.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said they had asked the chief administrative officer of the House to report back to them on the policies and procedures for handling sensitive data as a result of the breach. The inadvertent disclosure of a House ethics committee document, obtained by The Washington Post, summarized the status of investigations into lawmakers’ activities on subjects such as influence peddling and defense lobbying.
“Here Lucy, take this secret electronic document and work on it at home.”
In the breach, the report was disclosed inadvertently by a junior committee staff member, who had apparently stored the file on a home computer with “peer-to-peer” software, congressional sources said.
***
The staff member was fired this week. She told committee leaders she had saved a copy of the investigation summary to her personal computer without realizing it, a congressional source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The file was stored in a part of her computer files where peer-to-peer file-sharing software could operate, but she told the leaders that she did not realize that it was actively running.
Can you spell, “DUFUS?”

from RedState by Dan Perrin
FROM: Michael Hammond
RE: The Pelosi Bill-The real cost of the bill is at least $1.3 trillion (the CBO score, plus the “doc fix”) — and probably much, much more.
-The absolute minimum increase in the deficit would be $150 billion. You can probably add to this most of the $426 billion in supposed Medicare “cuts,” plus the substantial overruns in program costs as a result of underestimation of premiums. A deficit increase of between half a trillion dollars and a trillion dollars is almost certain.
-Employers would be required to purchase government-mandated government-prescribed insurance for all of their employees with premiums which, according to some estimates, would be double the minimum wage. With a penalty which, for most employees, would be 8% of payroll, it would be more economical to drop insurance for anyone making under $2-300,000, depending on the level of employer contribution.
-As a result, most individuals with employer-provided insurance will not be able to “keep the insurance they currently have.” The 10.2 million seniors with Medicare Advantage will also lose “the coverage they currently have.” And it is possible that the “grandfather” protection of individuals could be defeated by something as simple as a rate increase.
-Premiums will go through the roof and, unlike currently, Americans will be required to pay them, under penalty of law. Price Waterhouse estimates that the average family policy for a family of four will be $25,900 by 2019 (under the comparable Reid bill). And, although the study does not look at the impact of the subsidies, unlike the liberally touted Kaiser study, it does not ignore the impact of taxes on premiums.

TOP 10 REASONS TO OPPOSE NANCY PELOSI’S TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE
By Max Pappas and Matthew Clemente | FreedomWorks
On October 29th, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.) held a press conference to announce the release of House Democrats’ version of health care reform legislation. Using their overwhelming majorities in both the House and the Senate, Congressional Democrats have been seeking to completely remake the American health care system. And, with the support of many lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Democrats hope that the release of the House bill brings them one step close to passing reform. But before this colossal piece of legislation comes to a vote on the House floor, there are some facts that the American people need to consider.
1. America cannot afford Speaker Pelosi’s proposal
2. Your taxes will go up
3. Your insurance premiums will go up
4. Congress will use the force of government to make you buy a product
5. Mandating health insurance is unconstitutional
6. The House reform bill hurts consumers and employees
7. The Pelosi proposal hurts seniors
8. Like the bill that failed in the Senate, House Democrats will try to pass a misleading “Doc Fix”-or health care spending bill-as a precursor to the House bill in an attempt preserve its “deficit neutral” status
9. The House bill is massive
10. With the Pelosi plan, Democrats miss an opportunity to incorporate reforms that make health care more accesible and more affordable for American families.
