Afternoon summary of MUST READ stories across the web:

Looking at life through the porthole of Liberalism makes your worldview pretty narrow.

I ASK YOU, BY WHAT AUTHORITY? Liberal blogger has a narrow vision of religious American history:
The Conservatives have nothing of meaning, or substance, to offer. This is why they need religion. They’re lost, they don’t know where to turn, they have no ideas, but they really, really, really want to be in charge. Don’t be fooled. Even if you’re a Christian, you no more want these jackals involved in your religion than the tens of millions of non-Christian Americans want Christianity forced on them through their government. Look past their religious rhetoric and try to find a platform. You will likely find that these very pious, would-be Emperors, have no clothes, except the ones the corporations have given them.
Why The Right Needs Religion.

SORRY PAL, but sitting around the campfire and singing Kum ba yah with Peter, Paul and Muhammed isn’t changing Islam’s world view:
It seems that the Robert Spencers and Pamela Gellers of the world want us to believe that the Muslims have a secret plot to take over America by masquerading as peaceable and democratic, so they can ultimately “impose” sharia law ( ie Taliban variety) on unsuspecting, gullible Americans. Sharia is evil, Islam is a false and violent religion and no Muslim can be trusted.
America already is an Islamic society.

HOW IS IT THAT A “LOVE PARADE” GETS PEOPLE KILLED? That’s what Chancellor Angela Merkel & her fellow German citizens want to know!:
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has demanded an “intensive” investigation into the deadly stampede at the Love Parade music festival in Duisburg.

Mrs Merkel said she hadbeen “appalled” by the tragedy, adding that everything must be done to ensure such deaths did not happen again. The crush outside a tunnel at the entrance of the festival killed 19 people and injured 340 on Saturday. Survivors have blamed organisers for the deaths. They said the site was too small and warnings of overcrowding had been ignored.
Merkel vows ‘intensive’ probe of Love Parade deaths.

FROM THE ARCHIVES OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM (NOT) … Islam is a religion of peace:
The Koran is the supreme political document of Islam-its political manifesto and political constitution. It is the only constitution of the nation-state Saudi Arabia, which is the home of Mecca and the Kabah, where all mosques point, and is the birthplace of Islam.

The Koran is a totalitarian constitution. It demands submission by anyone within its jurisdiction. The Koran governs all mosques everywhere in the world.

As a political document, the Koran asserts that everyone in the world is within its jurisdiction. So far, Islam has not been able to enforce that totalitarian claim on the entire world, but has managed to do so through threat, infiltration, violence, terrorism, and coercion on roughly 20% of the world. It is engaged in a 1400-year-long Universal Jihad to dominate the rest of the world. All mosques are its outpost headquarters.

Central to the Koran’s political mandates is prohibition of religious freedom and religious tolerance, along with denouncements of religions such as Christianity and Judaism.

“O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them.” -Koran 5:51

Just so you’ll know.

WSJ … One of America’s leading libertarian legal scholars handicaps whether the Supreme Court will find ObamaCare’s insurance mandate constitutional.:
Is ObamaCare constitutional? “If you ask any constitutional law professor whether Congress can do something, the answer is always yes,” says Randy Barnett. But Mr. Barnett, who teaches legal theory at Georgetown, isn’t just any law professor. A self-described “radical libertarian,” he is the author of a 2004 book, “Restoring the Lost Constitution,” that argues for a fundamentally new approach to jurisprudence.

Mr. Barnett would have the court adopt a “presumption of liberty,” placing the burden on the government to show that a law has a clear basis in Congress’s constitutional powers. “The easiest way to explain it is, it would basically apply to all liberty the same basic protection we now apply to speech,” he says.

It’s an attractive theory to those of us with libertarian sympathies—a group that seems to be growing in reaction to the Obama administration’s unprecedented expansion of federal power. But Mr. Barnett, 58, readily admits there is virtually no chance the high court will embrace it during his lifetime.
A Commandeering of the People.

Chris Wallace – (1); Howard Dean (0). More proof that Liberalism is a mental disorder:
WALLACE: I know facts are inconvenient things, but let’s try to deal with the facts. The fact is that the Obama administration fired or forced Shirley Sherrod to quit before her name had ever been mentioned on Fox News Channel. Did you know that, sir?

DEAN: What I do know is that video came out –

WALLACE: Did you know that, that her name. Did you know that she was fired before her name was ever mentioned on the Fox News Channel?

DEAN: What about the video? Where did that play. What about the incomplete video?

WALLACE: The video had never played on the Fox News Channel before the White House fired her. It was on Andrew Breitbart BigGovernment.com. We’re not responsible for them. I agree with you it was out of context, but it wasn’t on Fox News so maybe you shouldn’t be using the racist phrase either.

On the day of its capture, Mohammed delivered an address at the Kabah in military dress and helmet, according to Ayatullah Ja’far Subhani in his book, “The Message”: Mohammed’s address at the Kabah overthrew the Meccan government and declared all of Islam, anywhere in the world, to be a political and military state against all non-Muslims, regardless of the non-Muslims’ political, geographical, or national origins. “If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him.” —Koran 3:85

THE MOSQUE AT GROUND ZERO … WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?:
By now, a growing number of Americans have heard about the 13-story, $100 million megamosque planned for the immediate proximity of Ground Zero, thanks in part to recent appeals by Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, the Southern Baptists’ Richard Land and a powerful ad by the Center for Security Policy.

Not surprisingly, most of them don’t like the idea one bit. And the more they learn about the imam behind the “Cordoba House” and his agenda, the more they are going to oppose his initiative.

According to a new national poll by Rasmussen, those who are aware of the proposed mosque at Ground Zero oppose it by a 54 to 20 percent margin. This is an even more dramatic degree of opposition than that established earlier this month by a Quinnipiac University poll conducted in New York City which found 52% to 31% opposed.

It seems a safe bet that these numbers will become more pronounced over time as Americans learn that the driving force behind the Ground Zero Mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, adheres to the same intolerant, supremacist agenda as did the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack. The authorities of Islam call it “Shariah.”

It turns out that there is no difference between Rauf’s agenda and al Qaeda’s; they both want to bring Shariah to America. They apparently disagree only on the techniques by which that is to be accomplished.

WHO KNEW? Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, A BIKER?:

No, Texas Hasn’t Been Invaded:
Twitter exploded a while ago about a story which claims that heavily-armed Los Zetas gunmen of the Gulf Cartel have taken over ranches on the U.S. side of the border.

Didn’t happen … but I suppose now we should offer the local drug cartel chieftain a plush government appointment for his trouble.
