House rebuke of Joe Wilson keeps the controversy alive – the facts don’t justify Democratic umbrage

Joe Wilson’s war

The Washington Times

Democrats pushed through a resolution yesterday rebuking Rep. Joe Wilson, South Carolina Republican, for breaching House rules when he shouted “You lie” during President Obama’s Sept. 9 speech to Congress. This was nothing more than a cheap political stunt based on cynical, race-baiting politics.

Mr. Obama accepted Mr. Wilson’s apology numerous times, and the tift should have ended there. Instead, House Democrats have used the war of words as an opportunity to play the race card. Rep. Hank Johnson, Georgia Democrat, accused Mr. Wilson of instigating racist sentiment and argued the rebuke was necessary to stop people from,”putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside intimidating people.” So much for the post-racial politics Mr. Obama’s election was supposed to enshrine.

The Peach Pundit has a little reminder for us about Representative Hank Johnson …

The colossal ignoramus that is U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA)

In 2007, U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA), didn’t have any problem when fellow Representative Pete Stark called President Bush a liar. Specifically, Stark said, “But the President Bush’s statements about children’s health shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than his lies about the war in Iraq. The truth is that Bush just likes to blow things up in Iraq, in the United States, and in Congress.”

No cries of outrage from Johnson. No reactionary and inflammatory statements. Just silence.

…The clear conclusion we are left with is that U.S. Representative Hank Johnson IS ALSO A RACIST because he has opposed the policies of President George Bush, who I am told is a white man. That Johnson’s overt racism from the moment he first arrived in Washington is still tolerated is indicative of a deep rooted problem in his district where, using his logic, roving bands of racist black people are going to swarm all over town unless someone stands up to both him and those that agree with him.

Johnson needs to spend more time in his “private place of meditation” thinking about how to be more compassionate with the people he disagrees with … after all, that IS one of the goals of Buddhism. But maybe not BLACK Buddhists? I don’t know, I’m just askin.
