The Fulton County Medical Examiner has ruled the shooting death of a 19-year-old by a MARTA police officer a homicide. Joetavius Stafford was killed outside the Vine City Station after attending a homecoming game at the Georgia Dome on Saturday night. “I witnessed that he was shot in the back,” said his older brother Rodney Stafford. He said the officer shot his brother in the back two more times when he was on the ground. This is not going to end well for MARTA police. Very sad.
THIS YEAR’S mud-spattered race for Georgia governor between Nathan Deal and Roy Barnes is one of the most unsatisfying in many years. [but] In our opinion, the candidate who offers the most potential to improve the lives of citizens in this state is Nathan Deal. Mr. Deal, 68, the former congressman from Gainesville, is easily the most fiscally conservative candidate. His record in Washington of supporting reduced taxes and less government should be replicated in Atlanta. Combined with a like-minded, Republican-controlled legislature, this should result in policies that create a positive climate for businesses to create jobs and put Georgians to work. Time for Deal.Perhaps the closing line sums up this race the best: “…Georgians can’t be preoccupied by what-ifs. Instead, they must focus on the what-should-bes.”

Rio Vista), I was a business manager. The rest, as they say, is history. That was around 1975 and we’ve stayed close friends ever since. I took Claudia to lunch this week for a birthday celebration … our birthdays are both in October, and we enjoyed solving the world’s problems and remembering all those strange people who seem to occupy a place in the graphics industry as an inordinate majority. But the best part of the day for me was receiving a signed copy of her freshly published book, Fearless Flash. This is a great work … for the CS5 crowd, an essential tool to add to your arsenal. Claudia … exceptional work, as always — kudos! Claudia is also the author of Real World Print Production with Adobe Creative Suite Applications (Peachpit Press, 2009). She is an Adobe Certified Instructor for Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, and InDesign. You can check in with her at her blog at www.claudiamccue.com, where she discusses a little of the history of graphics we both shared in much better fashion than I’ll ever attain. We met on the day we both joined a graphics company in Atlanta. She was a stripper (that’s “film stripper” for you folks in
Via Amazon.com: InDesign CS5 opens the door to a new world: with the addition of exciting animation tools and deeper multimedia support. It’s now a viable interactive authoring tool. Designers want to create engaging interactive content, but may resist making the transition from page layout to timeline-based thinking. But now it’s much easier: InDesign CS5′s new interactive features are intuitive and easy to learn. And once they’ve mastered those tools in the familiar world of InDesign, they’ll find that Flash isn’t scary after all. Designers already know how to add text, graphics, and geometric shapes to a page in InDesign, it’s a short walk to adding interactive features. Before they know it, they’re creating Flash content. Go order a copy … you’ll be a better person for it.
