John Romano – BIG HOLLYWOOD
I’ll keep it short and sweet this afternoon. As Arnold’s new taxes kick in shortly, many people in my liberal Hollywood circle are starting to ask a question they wouldn’t dare ask before. Us conservatives in LA always have one foot out the door for greener pastures, but to hear those on the left get upset about taxes is perplexing and joyous at the same time. The question: Is living in California worth the cost?I left my home state of California in 1976 … never looked back. You remember 1976 don’t you: The “Son of Sam” murders in New York, Fidel becomes Cuba’s El Presidente, death of Howard Hughes at age 70, first recorded case of Ebola virus in the Sudan, gallon of gas was 59 cents, and the Dow closed the year at 1004. Those were the days! I spent 21 of my best years in California but sorry to say it’s “A nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there!” My thoughts and prayers for the GOOD folks who live there (you know who you are).
