MRC Newsbusters – December 4, 2024: The Press Still Pretends the Justice Department Is Pristinely Nonpartisan
No one should be surprised that Joe Biden lied when he said he would not pardon his corrupt son Hunter before wandering out of office. As much as journalists want to pretend this is just a Dear Old Dad rescue scenario, Hunter Biden enriched most of the Biden clan in his foreign influence-peddling projects, including Joe and Jill.
No one’s surprised that Biden would commit this outrage and then fly to Africa to get out of the earshot of reporters. His entire presidency seemed designed to avoid reporters, and never mind that about 95 percent of them are Biden voters.
The surprising occurrence was people on the Left complaining now that Donald Trump has been re-elected that the Hunter pardon ruins all their talking points about nobody being above the law. It “muddies the water” of their anti-Trump crusades. How did these supposedly smart people figure this scandal was going to end?
New York Times White House reporter Peter Baker wrote the pardon would “make it harder for Democrats to defend the integrity of the Justice Department and stand against Mr. Trump’s unapologetic plans to use it for political purposes.”
At this late and ridiculous juncture, Baker and other journalists are still engaged in the fiction that the Biden Justice Department wasn’t used for political purposes, and certainly not like Trump, who wants “retribution.”
Peter Baker, the grand oracle of the New York Times, with his endless supply of sanctimonious drivel about the sanctity of our justice system under Biden. Let’s all gather around and listen to this choir of journalistic clowns singing the praises of a Justice Department that’s supposedly as pure as the driven snow.
According to Baker and his ilk, the Biden Justice Department is a beacon of impartiality, a paragon of virtue where no political vendettas are ever pursued. Oh, how quaint! Here we have journalists, supposedly the guardians of truth, who bend over backward to pretend that the Biden administration hasn’t weaponized the DOJ like a medieval catapult aimed at its political foes.
But no, we’re told, it’s Trump who’s the real villain here, with his openly declared desire for “retribution.” How dare he be so transparent about his intentions while the Biden administration plays a game of cloak and dagger, using the DOJ like a stealth bomber under the cover of night? According to Baker, Biden’s DOJ is a pristine institution where no political motives could possibly seep through.
Let’s laugh at this circus act, where journalists like Baker twist themselves into pretzels to argue that investigating Hunter Biden or any other figure close to the Bidens is just the system working as it should, while any action against Trump or his associates is labeled as a witch hunt. The hypocrisy is so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw.
Imagine the mental gymnastics required to maintain this fiction: Hunter Biden’s business dealings are just a family matter, but Trump’s anything and everything is a national security crisis. Oh, the noble pursuit of justice when it aligns with your political agenda!
And the media’s coverage? It’s like watching a magician perform the same trick every night, hoping the audience forgets they’ve seen it a thousand times before. “Nothing to see here, folks, just the DOJ doing its job without any political sway.” Sure, and I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
Peter Baker, with his analytical pieces, is like the court jester, providing entertainment by spinning tales of an apolitical DOJ under Biden, while simultaneously decrying Trump’s supposed plans for vengeance. Oh, the irony! If you squint hard enough, you can almost see the scales of justice perfectly balanced, except one side is weighed down by a mountain of political agendas.
So here’s to you, Peter Baker, and all your fellow press pretenders, for keeping up this grand illusion. Keep those blinders on tight, keep those articles flowing, and keep pretending that the Biden Justice Department isn’t playing the same political games that you accuse Trump of dreaming up. But remember, in this theater of the absurd, the audience isn’t as gullible as you think.
The only thing more transparent than the political motivations of the DOJ under Biden is the media’s attempt to cover it up. Bravo, journalists, bravo for your performance in the ongoing drama of “Justice Department: The Unbiased Edition.” It’s a mockery of journalism, a satire of truth, and a testament to how far some will go to keep the narrative intact. Keep up the good work, or should I say the “good” work?
